SUNDEW 2.0 - Art Central

Swarovski has unveiled ‘Sundew’, a spectacular kinetic crystal installation by British Chinese Designer Elaine Yan Ling Ng at the 2016 edition of Art Central. Exhibited at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront, ‘Sundew’ represents Swarovski’s second successive partnership with Art Central, part of Hong Kong Art Week.

Visions From A New Generation for Lane Crawford x Swarovski

In celebration of Lane Crawford’s 165th anniversary, we are collaborating with Swarovski to present the “Visions From A New Generation” exhibition.

 

With ‘The Katoptron’, The Fabrick Lab takes the cue from the ancient form of mirrors from polished metal to translucent gem stone,   as well as how, combining handcrafted textiles from Guizhou's ethnic minority groups with hand-spun materials and Swarovski crystals. Using the newly engineered textile composite, which we named it as  “Crystal Rock's Lace”, to create a futuristic version of  a Katoptron that  surface pattern and colour changes according to how light travels through it, offering the spectator different views depending on their angle of vision. 
 

 

SUNDEW- Swarovski Designers of the Future Award Commission/ Design Miami/ Basel

The winners of this year's Designers of the Future Award - Studio Swine, Elaine Yan Ling Ng and Tomás Alonso have unveiled objects and installations at Design Miami/Basel 2015.

 

The designers were asked to create exhibition pieces in response to the traditions and aesthetics of products by crystal brand Swarovski.

RE-skin Exhibition

Boxes to keep treasures, rare fabrics from the Song and the Tang Dynasty, sophisticated craft techniques and future textiles: RE-skin – is the story of the improbable encounter, in a pocket of Dashilar.

 

A craft adventure between traditional Beijing Box Maker Guo Derui and unconventional textile experimentalist Elaine Yan Ling Ng, founder of THE FABRICK LAB, Hong Kong.

 

Commissioned by BJDW and Dashilar Project as part of the Dashilar Pilot Craft Program, RE-skin is a new techno-craft experience by Elaine Yan Ling Ng. After having worked in Guizhou exploring new potential for traditional craft, Elaine continues her exploration of how technology and craft can service each other in her latest collaboration with Mr Guo.

«Smart Flexibility» Exhibition

An exhibition that uncovers structures and materials capable of developing sensitivity and adapting their shape to the surroundings. The exhibition brings together projects from all over the world that allow us to imagine the functionalities that can be provided by intelligent, smart structures in any field of application. Perception of climatic, acoustic and light conditions in the surroundings and their adaptation to them; detection of users and the modification of the space in relation to their bodies, movements or even emotions; capturing of wind and solar energy; or the generation of electrical energy are some of the possibilities that these materials and technologies open up for us. On June 26th Materfad is welcoming three of the participants to explain the possibilities that flexible structures and active materials offer us.

Detour Beijing, Moleskine

In partnership with Beijing Design Week, curated by Raffaella Guidobono, it's a project that's always on the move and this time it arrives at the Taikoo Li Sanlitun Moleskine Store on the occasion of Beijing Design Week. Amongst a backdrop of notebooks, journals and Moleskine objects, the notebooks of celebrated artists from around the world such as Kengo Kuma and Ron Arad as well as those of local representatives including internationally-renowned graphic designer Alan Chan and a new addition from fashion designer Vega Wang are displayed for visitors to turn each page, interacting with the creative process as it unfolds.

EN VIE / ALIVE

This world is happening right now. Today, designers and artists have begun to either embrace or rebel against this bioengineered world and as a result, new design directions are beginning to emerge. The exhibition En Vie – Alive, presents a new design landscape, where fragments of a possible programmable ‘synthetic’ future are confronted with ‘natural’ alternative design perspectives. The quest for a different kind of ecological design models underpins the selection of projects, which range from potential sustainable solutions, to poetic interpretations and extreme provocations.

Techno Naturology has been selected to show case at UK China Art and Design Festival (UCADF)  2011  as part of Cheers Exhibition.

 

During London Design Festival, UK China Art and Design Association are exhibiting a wealth of work by young Chinese artists and designers at Great Western Studios. This will celebrate Chinese creative energy actively engaged in London's art and design. The show will span contemporary art, product design, fashion design, spatial design, graphic communication and commercial advertising.

i Fabric. European Talent

i FABRIC.EUROPEAN TALENT presents work by 33 young designers or design duos who have been trained in a dozen or so European countries and graduated within the last three years or are completing their BA or MA this year. Material Explorations: The Investigation of New Materials in Craft & Design

An exhibition exploring new materials through the methodologies of craft, architecture and design.
 

Vest is a creative design practice run by Jessica Lertvilai which explores the interrelation of craft, art and design. Vest invited a group of design and craft practitioners to spend one year experimenting with innovative materials that are recent to the market or that have been previously identified to a specific region or culture. Vest aims to inspire makers to look beyond convention and to embrace a different approach through playful interactions with new tools and materials. The resulting work reflects how each participant was challenged to think critically and creatively about the impact of a new material on their working practice.

At the 2011 Milan Furniture Fair Lidewij Edelkoort talks about the future of textiles, the elements of textiles that people feel attracted to and textiles as a "spokesperson" for culture.
